Good homeowners take the time to protect their investment. Protecting your home investment requires regular home maintenance. Winter home maintenance is equally as important. Here are a few tips to get ready for the winter and help keep your home happy:

  • Be sure to check your home seating and air conditioning system. Take time to change your filters. You might even want to find a reputable HVAC contractor to inspect your unit annually.
  • Seal hard surfaces and masonry. Take time to inspect your concrete and fill in any cracks before you apply the sealer. This would include your areas like the driveway patio walkways to make sure there will protect.
  • Clean your gutters and check your drainage. If your gutters overflow because of being backed up the water will run down your home which speeds up the deterioration of your exterior. It can also lead to the deterioration of your foundation and concrete. Walk around your home and check your rain gutter downspouts. Saturated soil around the foundation can cause real problems if it freezes and thaws through the winter months.
  • Make sure your attic doesn’t become a hotel for critters. Once it gets cold outside it’s the perfect home for squirrels birds and other critters. Make sure your trees are trimmed and away from the house. Make sure there are no holes that birds are allowed to get it. Damage and potential health problems or cause if these critters invade the home

Take a few moments and apply these tips for home maintenance. By doing so you will protect your well-earned investment.
